Luxury villa interior with glass walls and Finnish forest, Airbnb Luxe photography
Case Study

Two Villas. One Luxe Standard.

Two properties. 500 kilometres apart. Both shooting for Airbnb Luxe.

Vierumaki: contemporary glass and Honka log, lakeside, designer furniture, panoramic forest views. Kuusamo: traditional log villa on a fell, five ensuite bedrooms, presidential history, snow eight months a year. Different owners. Different properties. Different seasons. Both needed photography that met the Luxe qualification standard. The challenge was not shooting two villas. It was producing two distinct visual stories at the same production level.

Villa 4 Seasons, Vierumaki

315 square metres of contemporary Honka log construction. Panoramic glass walls framing birch forest. Finnish designer furniture by Tapio Anttila. Floor-to-ceiling windows meant every interior composition included the exterior as a second subject. We scheduled the interior sequence around the hour when forest light was softest, avoiding reflections and blown highlights across the glass.

Villa Ruka Hill, Kuusamo

398 square metres on Rukatunturi. Traditional luxury log construction. Fourteen-person sauna. The road up was pure ice. Winter tyres made no difference. Parked below and carried the gear up one bag at a time.

Two hours of usable daylight. The villa is built from dark log that absorbs light the way concrete never does. Every interior was fighting the conditions. Shutter speeds kept dropping lower than they should have. I checked the settings twice before I noticed: a magnetic ND filter from the previous shoot, still mounted on the lens. Once it came off, the exposures corrected and we raced through the remaining rooms before the light went.

The images do not show any of this. They show a warm, quiet villa on a fell. Which is the point.

Result

Both properties qualified for Airbnb Luxe tier. Both owners reported increased bookings after the new imagery went live. The production approach was the same for each: discovery, scouting, shot list built around the property's specific strengths, blue hour exteriors, styled interiors, custom colour grade. Different properties. Same standard. That consistency is what Luxe qualification requires.
